Proof

Proof sheet seems to be a very accurate title for this bit of darkroom image makery because it is exactly that - proof of what is exactly on your negative, proof of how well you did it.

 

As you can see from my results the answer is often very badly but (for me at least) it's very interesting to see. The well exposed shots are from a day at the beach when I had to overexpose by at least one stop because I was using TMax 3200 and the numbers only went so far. These seem to have come out best though suggesting that TMax 3200 operates best at nearer to 1600. I've heard this said before but now I have proof. The top and bottom rows are probably a result of my shoddy head metering but could also be because of under developing or another slightly off film rating.

 

The second from top row shows how I somehow manage to get it wrong mid roll. Doing these proof sheets has certainly opened my eyes a bit and even though producing a flawlessly printable negative is much less of an issue these days, i'd still like to know what i'm doing :)
