Too few of my shots could be considered documents of Aberystwyth and now that i'm leaving I wish that i'd done more than just look for the best light. I went to an exhibition of social documentation photography with Aberystwyth's student photography society today and realized that I could have missed the chance to do my own project based on this town and the people living in it. Then again i'm not a professional and I do have a lot of actual uni work to do :)
Anyways, this is Aberystwyth Pier Arcade, somewhere i'd love to document in all its old fashioned glory. There's a really sense of innocence in the 2p machines with big hot dogs on top of them where kids collect tokens to get a cheap teddy bear or water pistol or something. You get the feeling that it's been the same since the 1970s. Same prizes too :)
I think getting photos like this are something of a rarity these days too. Taking pictures of kids somehow makes me feel like i'm about to get a disapproving tap on the shoulder which is terrible because they're far more interesting and full of life than adults. I was lucky that arcade security is fairly half arsed :)
