Remembered Walking
A dreary day in Aberystwyth, dreary but dry. I went out for a break from work and was caught in a downpour. I've just found that using the Vaseline can be very expressive, I couldn't shot the rain but I could try and simulate it before the rain washed it off and got the filter wet. Not too cinematic this time....i'm waiting to see Diving Bell and the Butterfly to decide whether Janusz Kaminski and me have similar taste :) I hope so
I think one thing that this shot has taught me is that the Vaseline thing works best with some sort of light. Overcast in general looks back and I really want to use it more with light flares.
Actually the thing that partly inspired this shot was the cinematography in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, did anyone else catch it? There are some amazing shots with tilt shifts and these lenses that created these aberrations around the edges that gave it a look of a memory. Vaseline didn't work the same but I quite like the results.
