Little Cowgirls
There used to be photographers that would come around and get kids interested in their pony, and the kids would get excited about having their photos taken on the pony. Of course, Mom would dig into the old cookie jar, pull out the fifty cents or so, let the kids pose, and walk away with their smiles and memories... and the photographer walked away with a little bit of something to fend for himself and his family.
My favorite picture, or at least *among* my favorite pictures, was one of me and by siblings sitting on a paint pony, and I know Mom sat and decided what she would do without, just to get that memory and the smiles.
