Desolation & Natural Beauty

There's something special about the former Rio Grande across the Utah desert and there are no shortage of ways to try to capture it in images. Standing on a small hill next to BLM road 328 with a 300mm zoom on a crop sensor camera this view of the distant La Sal mountains behind the Utah desert foreground contrasts the different scenery through this part of the west. Despite I70 being not very far away this stretch of the Rio Grande through Floy and Solitude seems especially remote. This view also makes it clear that the desert through here is far less than flat despite how it looks from some perspectives. 3/27/2016
