The glory of the high & dry

Unlike earlier roads that followed waterways the P&WV took a high route through the hills south of Pittsburgh running along the hilltops and high stepping over the valleys on tall steel bridges. Fortunately the W&LE still operates this line and one can still watch sets of SD40-2's soar across the sky. Pigeon Creek trestle near Van Voorhis, PA 4/25/2021
