USAID’s Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP) is providing technical assistance to the Government of India to expand access to quality family planning (FP) services and contribute to India’s FP2020 commitments, by promoting the expansion of the current set of contraceptives (also called "basket of contraceptives") available in India in the states of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Telangana and Maharashtra. MCSP is furthering the technical and programmatic expertise gained under its predecessor, the Maternal and Child Health Integrated Program (MCHIP) that successfully initiated and established the post-partum family planning (PPFP) program in India with a focus on post-partum intrauterine contraceptive devices (PPIUCD). MCSP helps strengthen facilities and capacities of providers to ultimately improve the quality of FP services across the focus states.
