mcnod says: The first time I talked to Stanley, I needed to know one thing ... Did Peter Gabriel really ask you to be on his 3rd album, and did you really say no?? It was true! He was forced to choose between his own writing and recording contract or playing with Peter (d@mn record companies). I love his music and I pause and pray that he stays in remission. This is a wonderful photo of Stanley. Stanley's many bands: Happy The Man, Vision, One By One, Oblivion Sun, Stan and Leanne, Band of a Thousand Names

mcnod says: Dennis is truly one of the greatest drummers of all time! One time, I was talking to Dennis and another friend of mine (who did not know of Dennis Chambers) came around. When Jessie found out that Dennis played drums he said, "I bet you're good, aren't you." Dennis said, "I do ok." A humble man and a worldwide legend. Constantly in demand, he has been Carlos Santana's drummer for many years now. Some of Dennis' bands: Parliament-Funkadelic, Steely Dan (touring band), Carlos Santana, George Duke and Stanley Clark, Carl Filipiak, so many, many more ...

mcnod says: Very nice photo of Carl. I've gone to so many of his performances, I've lost count years ago. In the early days, you would often see Dennis Chambers performing with Carl around town, and always some of the best Baltimore area players. You will hear some great original jazz at Carl's shows, wonderful Beatle interpretations and Jimi Hendrix covers that will blow your mind. Carl Filipiak - a true artist and craftsman. A must see show for all live music lovers.

mcnod says: Mookie Siegel called me once from San Francisco. He said he was on audition and how do you transpose a Roland RD300 keyboard? He didn't have time to learn the song in a different key. I looked it up, he got the gig, it was one of Bob Weir's solo projects. It was a priviledge and an honor to help. The next time I saw him, after the tour, home again, he was wearing a tie dye tee shirt, I said "Dude, what did they do to you?" Seriously, Mookie is a great player, I miss the days of Section 8 and The Paradise Rockers. Great photo!

mcnod says: Now Deanna would at some point run around the Last Chance Resturant in Columbia, blowing her horn in your face, sometimes in one kitchen door and out the other, then back up on stage. One night, after the run, our food was served, but they told me that mine would be another minute, it seems that Deanna ran into my burger while in the kitchen, they were making me a new one. I wanted the old one, too, as a souvenir, I understand why they had to say no. If you go see Deanna play, you will feel good when you leave, I guarranty

mcnod says: Jim Rezek told me once not to give up, Firth Of Fifth is hard, slow it down, do it a thousand times and you will get it. He plays it flawlessly. I give up, it's too hard, maybe one day. His band, Iluvatar, is one of the coolest in Baltimore. Great photo!

mcnod says: You know a guy is a great player when a big name manufacturer builds a bass and puts his name on it! Gary would stop in the music store where I worked often, always with a smile. Gary and Dennis played with Scofield a lot in the 80s.

mcnod says: Mike was playing sax in Baltimore with his band one night a number of years ago. One of my cousins was there. (I seldom see her). Well she thought he was me, went up, and gave him a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. Bringing the error to light, Mike said, "I am not your cousin, but I know him well". Mike has brought some of the best 'prog' bands from around the globe to his Orion Sound Studios. I am continually in awe and amazed by the sounds that come out of that room! Thanks, Mike, you are the best!!

mcnod says: Long time friend Logan Mitchell, Sr (foreground) is the founding member of The Baltimore SDIY Group of electronic music performers. He and I have spent countless enjoyable hours discussing the state of live electronic music in Baltimore, his group, and his own synth designing and building endeavors.

mcnod says: This is a great photo of Skeet, the best one I found so far on flickr. Although I am not as close to him as I am to those above, it's mostly due to the fact that he is always out of town gigging with the best this world has to offer. Mostly I would stand there quietly in awe as he would relate to Lou some of the places he had gone and the things that had happened on tour. I will compile a better list of some of his tours but Sonny Rollins comes to mind and, of course, P-Funk.
