Canadian Badlands During Sunset

Looks like an aluvial fan doesn't it? Check out the storm thats coming in the background. And yes, to answer your question, it was torrential when it finally opened up.

 

These are the colours believe it or not. The sun was so intense in the background that it made the landscape almost glow.

I like giving little stories regarding what people are looking at.

 

Seventy million (70,000,000) years is a long time ago. So long that many people can't fathom a world of that time. Yet at that time, 70 million years ago, during the cretaceous, a myriad of multi-ton creatures (and their prey) lived in the sub-tropical jungle that is now the Badlands. When all these creatures died, they left a wealth of fossilized history behind them. Preserved through the millennia in this very sandstone.
