Phascolosoma agassizii - Peanut Worm
Found at Pigeon Pt., San Mateo Co., CA; 5 July 2008: ~3cm. jalbersmead found this guy under a rock. Although the 2007 edition of 'The Light & Smith Manual, intertidal invertebrates from central California to Oregon' uses the name Phascolosoma agassizii, which is the name I learned 40 odd years ago, ITIS lists Golfingia procera as the currently accepted name for this species. After reading Ken-ichi's comment, I've decided to retain P. agassizii as the correct name until someone can give reasons to do otherwise.
