Why not to touch a needle that's been sewing nylon webbing

it only burnt the very outer layer of skin, I don't have any lingering pain. It did however leave a shiny brand on the tip of my finger. I had been sewing nylon webbing to cordura, foam and interfacing all layered together. the needle gets hot quick and often will melt the thread if I sew too fast.
