VMFA-115 Deactivation Ceremony
U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18s with Marines with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 115, Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 31, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW), and F-35B Lightning IIs with Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 501, MAG-31, 2nd MAW, fly over Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina, during the squadron’s deactivation ceremony, Nov. 9, 2023. VMFA-115 was deactivated in accordance with Force Design 2030 after 80 years of faithful service. VMFA-115 will relocate to Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina and be redesignated as VMFA-115, a subordinate unit of Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 14, for operations as an F-35C Lightning II squadron no later than fiscal year 2027.
