You’re invited to discover a new way to experience African American history at the Unveiling Celebration of the Augmented Reality (AR) Experiences at Oakley Cabin African American Museum and Park, Saturday June 8, 2024, from 11am to 1pm. Refreshments will be provided for this family-friendly free event.
Free parking with shuttle service at 19801 Georgia Ave, Brookeville MD 20832.
Visitors will use their mobile phones see AR videos, explore 3D manipulatable models, and have interactive digital experiences to learn about the history of Oakley Cabin and lives of the freed Black families who lived there in the reconstruction period following Maryland’s emancipation in 1864. The AR experiences are accessed through your mobile device and are available in seven languages – English, Spanish, Amharic, Chinese, French, Korean, and Vietnamese.
Stay afterward to enjoy the interpretive programming offered at the Cabin.
