Pope Farm Nursery Spring Season 2024
"Dikon Radish is one of our top 3 cover crops used at Pope Farm to rebuild of soils in between tree crop rotations. We plant it in late Fall each year. Its top portion shades the ground and wears out weed seeds without the use of herbicides. The bottom radish root portion acts as a nutrient pump where it gathers and then even distributes nutrients in the soil. The large radish root then dies and decomposes provided and vegetatively aerated soil that can then absorb air and water much faster. This process is similar to how you mechanically aerate a lawn, but we do it with plant material."
