Fall is a great time to plant native plants
Join Montgomery Parks Natural Resources/ Vegetation Management Staff and help us plant 600 native seedling plugs (young native plants) in our newly created Sligo meadow! This is the newest Sligo meadow that we started working on in May 2020 and it is ready for new plants this fall! The best place to park is the neighborhood along Tenbrook Drive and Whitehall Street, then access the park from THIS small park walkway at lat/long: 39.0291524,-77.0275887.(opens in a new tab) (The Dennis Ave Activity Building(opens in a new tab) is also a possibility for parking, albeit a further walk).

Please wear long pants that cover your ankles, long sleeves, and sturdy, closed-toed shoes. Bring gardening gloves and small shovels if you have them. Gloves and tools are available to borrow if you don’t have your own. No power tools or machetes allowed. Please bring water to drink. Please note: Court Ordered Volunteer Hours can’t be granted through this event.

This event is capped at 30 people.

This workday is pre-approved for MCPS SSL hours. Volunteers 14 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
