Soulful Supper, Summer 2017

by Montgomery Parks, MNCPPC

Four people participated in Soulful Supper at Harper's Cabin, Brookside Nature Center, on July 16, 2017. They learned to make a meal in a hearth, or heathside cooking. This programs teaches African American history through food in a cabin formerly owned by African American families. The cabin was moved to Brookside Nature Center. Nicole Thomas, volunteer, leads the program. During this program, participants prepared and cooked salmon croquettes, potatoes, green beans, and rice pudding. Oh, it smelled sooo good! We also did a Facebook Live from the program.
