T A K A H I R O : Kani Kaku Ni...

The maiko Takahiro of Gion Kobu stands near Yoshii Isamu's memorial, just as the cherry blossoms begin to bloom. His poem reads:

"No matter what they say,

I love Gion.

Even in my sleep

The sound of water

Flows beneath my pillow"

Japanese:

"Kanikakuni

Gion wa Koishi

Neru toki mo

Makura no Shita no

Mizu no Nagaruru"

かにかくに

祇園は

こいし

寝るときも

枕のしたの

水のながるる
