Cafe Royal

Cafe Royal, Edinburgh. Probably the most famous pub in Edinburgh. Beautiful building and interior. Was used to film Chariots of Fire (restaurant scene).

This is really just a sketch and dry run post process. I shot this handheld in iso 1600. I plan to return soon with my tripod and my tilt-shift lens to get straight lines. I'll also spend much longer on the post process to get it looking better.

My processing technique has been influenced by Jean-Michel Berts recently; I really like his style. It's much less precise in terms of selections (for curves/levels adjustments) than +Joel Tjintjelaar and is more similar to the old dodge and burn techniques in the dark room. Don't get me wrong; I think Joel Tjintjelaar technique is really great, but perhaps I prefer Jean-Michel Berts for more historic architectural images. For those of you that know both styles, I'd be interested to get your view.
