Shot at Alexanderplatz area, Berlin. I took Leica X Vario with me on Berlin trip and I was not missing my trusted PEN-F. When I was shooting strangers with X Vario I realized one very important feature that is a game changer – it can fire a flash in bright day light! PEN-F coupled flash is limited to sync speed of 1/250 and camera itself has base iso of 200 which does not help in sunshine. I could get external flash with HSS for PEN-F, but it will not be a small package anymore. After not using X Vario for a few month, I can see now where it excels- that 3D look is something that PEN-F just does not do that well. Possibly I could get 25mm F/1.2 lens, but again, it will not be that small package any more. Will I abandon PEN-F – no way, it is smaller and faster than X Vario and who generally cares about 3D look in street photography, but for people shoots X Vario will be a better tool for me.
