wellington flickr meet 4 sept. wellington flickr meet was at syn bar, not least of which becuase it has all-you-can-eat pizza on monday nights. only there was no pizza (crikey, it's like 'the pub with no beer'!) due to the gas supply outage in wellington's central business district.
I felt compelled to fill in their customer feedback form - strangely (for Hell Pizza ) there was no check box for "hell" to discribe your experience. never mind, we made our own category.
1000 customers in central wellington have been without gas since wednesday 30 august after a burst water main flooded the gas network. as of 6 sept, about 200 business owners and inner-city residents have endured more than a week without gas. strolling the streets it looks as though gophers have invaded (albeit very organised gophers with safety barricades); street corners all over the city have been dug up as powerco network engineers attempt to restore service.
gyms and restaurants are suffering, with large decreases in business. powerco has appointed insurance loss-adjusters to review the situation.
