"Gail + GTi on the Carretera to Oaxaca, OAX, Mexico June '95"

our friend gail, la peliroja. brief stop en route to Oaxaca as we travelled to - well somewhere very south to rescue their car that had broken down. may have been Salina Cruz, may have been further south, I forget. it was an excellent road trip.

the shadow turbo had a coozed auto; they'd hitch-hiked back to mexico city with a pack each and a toolbox. we travelled down and stayed overnight in a motel, worked on the car next day. dropped the auto out in 39 degree heat, 100% humidity, with only hand tools, a jack, and a length of wood we found. found all the parts we needed in a local auto parts store; seals, JB Weld (for the bell housing), and gaskets. Amazing given the town had less than 40,000 people and the car was foreign. We also added a whole bunch of quarts of ATF. We whacked it back together and in to the car in less than a day. followed therafter by a legendary road trip back to DF. good memories.

I don't know where this was, looks like the Carretera (pay highway) was pretty new at that point.

Scanned from my original print on Konica paper, using vuescan and Epson V700. Probably shot on my OM1.
