Lacy
I took my 7D out for a walk, right before dark. This Great Egret, complete with breeding plumage, was waiting for bread with a group of mixed waterfowl and a Black-crowned Night Heron. I had no idea the the egret or heron would eat bread. (Not that any of these birds should have been given bread in the first place.)
The whole scene was a bit silly. A young couple, having a picnic, decide to share some of it with one mallard. It's impossible to feed just one mallard. Soon they were surrounded by birds. The young woman was telling the birds to go away, while still sitting on the blanket, with her boyfriend and their food. When talking to the birds didn't work, they threw food at them. That , of course worked no better.
I photographed this egret and left the growing circle of birds.
