Los gigantes in the morning
We went to witness the Shalako dances at the Zuni pueblo in western New Mexico and stayed with a lady who had this view from her backyard.
The property has been in her family for over a hundred years.
Our first time there and not knowing where we were going, we were following friends in another car. When I saw these formations from the main road I said: "Too bad we can't stop there and take some pictures", only to end up at their feet minutes later in time for the moonrise.
No pictures from the Shalako dances are possible, because photography is strictly forbidden.
