Close to the Edge
Yes is one of my favorite bands from my youth.
Close to the Edge, is among my favorite albums of theirs. Note that I say album, not CD. I still think of vinyl when I think of an album, not a CD.
This is a close up macro of the edge of a CD platter.
I was in-between the different moments of activity during work today, when I pulled out my camera and took this. The Panasonic LX3 can focus up to 1 centimeter away from the front of the lens. Pretty darn close.
I grabbed a CD of data which is in my "To be shredded" pile, and set about to capture this. I put the LX3 in manual mode, and dialed down the focus to the max. Slowly I pushed the lens closer to the edge of the cd. I took several and liked this one the best.
It's a crop of just a part of the photo, to further dramatize how close the LX3 can focus. With 10 megapixels, I can further zoom in by cropping like this.
Sure looks different than when I pick it up with my hands.
