The Griffith Observatory at night, Los Angeles, California
Although there are countless cool photo opportunities around the Griffith Observatory, I have two 'go-to' shots: the dome with Downtown LA in the background and the telephoto shot of the whole Observatory with the illusion of Downtown LA being right behind it.
I spent some time this night on the former shot, and when heading back to the car decided to turn around and try a couple more though decidedly less exciting shots. I thought this one came out pretty well.
The red light in front of the main entrance was coming from a large telescope that Observatory staff set up outside for folks to check out the night sky (or at least what they can see of it with the city lights right there). I didn't take the time to look at that view, but I do think it's a pretty cool way to get folks involved in what the Observatory has to offer.
