Back then when I was living in the Studentenwohnheim in Dortmund, a Maroccan girl who had arrived around october told me "Die Sonne in Deutschland, das ist wie die Lampe in Kühlschrank. Gibt nur ein blasses licht und gibt keine Wärme". Nicely put. I assume she revided her assessment when spring came.
