The cricket‘s „ear“ at 28x magnification

The hearing organ (Tympanum) of crickets consisting of a membrane stretched across a frame backed by an air sac and associated sensory neurons (almost like our eardrum). The female uses the tympanum to pick up the vibrations made by male cricket to attracts the female by his „song“.
