holyboy (time machine)

Walking outside of town looking for - foolishly sans a Lonely Planet, or "the Book" - and in the general direction of the Beatles' old ashram (see my notes on that, paragraph two), we ran into this duo taking a break at a crossroad near a small temple. I gave the boy some rupees, then acted as though I didn't understand what the old man wanted when he too made the universal gestures for money, suddenly acting as though they weren't together.

We never did find the abandoned ashram that day, where the Beatles wrote half of the White Album. The rest of the group went some days later, while I was vomiting from what later I figured was probably food poisoning, wishing for speedy death in our hotel room. The closest I got was viewing the rooftops through 2km of jungle, but I would have plenty of exploration in Ladakh some weeks later.

My blog post here covers the adventure and others. Follow the rest of the blog at hey, nice jacket (3 May - 4 August).
