Luigi (Stranger 3/100)
While wandering through Camden Market in London, I saw this gentleman looking over the clothes in the suit shop where he worked. I was drawn to him because of his amazing hair, then I saw his eyes, which popped against the shadows of the shop behind him.
"What is your name?" I asked
"Luigi."
"Where are you from?"
"Really?" he asked, smiling
"Ok, what part of Italy are you from then?"
"Naples."
Luigi said he had been in London for 6 years. He loved his new city. When I asked what he wanted in life that he doesn't have currently, he told me, "More space to do art." He explained that he likes to draw and that he plays bass guitar in a psychedelic band. Ironically, I did another stranger portrait the day before of another Londoner who focuses on psychedelic music. Finding this odd, I asked Luigi who his influences were, and he noted Pink Floyd as his primary love.
When I had taken a few shots and was about to leave, Luigi volunteered, "This is not the first time someone has taken a picture of me in public. The first time I found it very strange, but I don't mind now," he said. "But I'm not a model, so I don't know how to stand."
I laughed and told him he did just fine.
