I met Frederick while walking down the street in Brooklyn months ago. I asked him his favorite word, which had been my regular stranger icebreaker on this vacation to see my sister.
"Reprobate," said Frederick.
"Does that describe anyone you know?" I asked.
"A few!"
From inside the building, a friend of his shouted, "Watch out, he does this for a living!"
Unsure of what he meant, I asked Frederick, "Oh, are you a photographer?"
His friend shouted the reply. "No, he's just professionally handsome!"
