Gravity. My 24-105L Lens After Meeting A Concrete Floor.

This photo was taken 48 hours before arriving in Death Valley.

My camera slipped off my shoulder as I left a motel room crashing to the floor. The lens parted from the camera and started to roll towards a balcony edge and a further drop of 15 feet to the pavement below. I grabbed it just before the edge. You can see the top lens on the towel. The previous day the Image Stabilisation broke on my 70-200 F4 IS, rendering the lens unusable. An expensive and depressing 24 hours. If anyone wants to try and repeat this experience the address of the motel can be seen on the brochure to the right hand side of the photo.

I was due to travel to Death Valley the next day. Instead I drove the 250 mile round trip to Las Vegas to find a temporary replacement lens to use for the rest of the trip.

Road Trips (for me Photo Trips) are fantastic when everything works smoothly. However, from time to time we are sent various challenges, which makes the arrival at your ultimate destination that much sweeter.
