On Thursday, May 29th, Lt. Governor Matt Denn was in New Castle County for events.
He paid a visit to Old State Elementary School in the Appoquinimink School District, where he stopped by Mrs. Carrie Maxwell’s 4th grade class. Her class extended an invitation for the Lt. Governor to visit and learn more about the Leader in Me process at the school. Mrs. Maxwell’s 34 students have been working hard on a presentation for the Lt. Governor and presented it to him during his visit. Students from the class planned to take him on a tour of the school as well.
The Leader in Me process helps develop the essential life skills and characteristics students need in order to thrive in the 21st century and is designed to be integrated into a school’s core curriculum. Based on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People®, The Leader in Me produces results such as higher academic achievement, fewer discipline problems, increased self-confidence, and increased engagement among teachers and parents.
