D3s sample: evening highway traffic @ ISO3200
30 November 2009. Interstate 76 at Walnut St, Philadelphia, PA.
My first outdoor shot with the new D3s: a quick, uninspired snapshot of evening highway traffic at ISO 3200. Amazingly little noise considering the high gain. The main cost of shooting between about ISO 800 and 3200 seems to be some loss of dynamic range. Noise starts to become more obvious around ISO 6400 and up.
Nikkor 85mm/1.4 AF-D lens (@ 1/400 sec, f/2.2), Nikon D3s camera (ISO 3200). Aparature priority auto exposure (matrix metering); auto white balance; focus point on the school bus. 14 bit NEF converted to jpg in ACR 5.6 beta, otherwise unmodified.
