Marina Militare's Audace Class DDG

Note; the insignia on the side of the fore superstructure is my own, not that of the actual Marina Militare.

She is finally done! Some might remember when I built my Lupo Class FFG; well my DDG is finally done, too!

The ITS Audace and ITS Ardito, entering service in 1972 and 1973 respectively, were the two ships belonging to Italy's Audace class of Guided Missile Destroyers. Originally outfitted with two Oto Melare 127/54 Compact guns, the Audace class was later modernized in 1989 to be a more well rounded ship, with Anti-submarine, anti-surface, and electronic warfare capabilities. The two ships were decommissioned in 2006, serving a total of about 34 years; roughly twenty years longer than originally intended.

The version of the ship that you see here is how the Audaces were, post-modernization. It's not 100% accurate, but this is LEGO so it's not gonna be perfect...

The scale is 1:125, or 1 stud for 1 meter of ship.
