Colourful Cloud Volcano
I drove around for almost 30 minutes trying to find a good spot to capture the sunset over the mountains. As I realized my time was running out, I had to settle with this place. I started the timelapse and wondered around a bit, to make sure there wasn't a good view I missed close by.
I noticed someone walking two dogs in the distance, heading my way. I soon realized that the dogs were dragging their leashes, running towards me while barking. I figured they were running up to say hello, like most pet dogs do, but one of them bit me on the leg before I realized they weren't happily excited, but more protect-our-master-mode. (Or so I'd guess) All of this could have been easily avoided if I was more cautious, or better yet, if I could understand, and speak their language. However, we did communicate a little. As the one that bit me ran off, the other ran up to me, but this time I stuck my foot out, and kept it close to it's face. I told him that I didn't want to kick him, but I would if he tried to attack me. I don't think he understood my English, but it seemed like he got the message through my body language. He backed off, and I was happy that I didn't have to kick him.
The bite wasn't bad, mainly puncture wounds, with a small cut. It stung! Once the owner caught up, I asked if they had their shots, she said they did. She also said she was going to buy a muzzle for the one that bit me, while I thought to myself, yesterday would have been a great time to buy that!
After they passed, I sat down and put some snow on the bite to ease the pain and slow the swelling. It felt good. Once it was a little numb, I walked back to my car, and n the way a car passed me, stopped and turned around to ask if I was alright. I said I would be fine, and told them the story. They offered to take me to their house down the road to get cleaned up, and then to the hospital (where they were originally headed) I told them that I'd love to get some peroxide or something on the wound, but I didn't have time to go to the hospital, and I'd do that later. (I had to leave this night, and I still had a long drive ahead of me. I also wanted to finish capturing the sunset.)
It's not the foreground I was hoping for, but I'm glad I caught some good cloud action during the sunset, and that is why I wish I stayed at the place I shot the previous timelapse, but hind sight is 20/20 now isn't it! (Is it too much to ask for the ability to talk to animals and see the future? I promise I'll use those special powers for good!)
