Spiral Out

Over the winter of 2014/2015, I wanted to make a giant spiral in the snow on Lake Ontario, and come back at night to do light painting. This is one of many attempts, not my favorite, but not too shabby either.

The big problem with this project was that this area is really flat, and to best show off a giant spiral like this, you need a birds eye view, or something close to it.

I was shooting from a cliff on the edge of the lake, but it was only 9 feet or so off the water. (better known as 3 meters to the rest of the world)

This wasn't high enough, making the spiral look a little squished and oval.

I think the plan after this was to make the space between the lines of the spiral wider, but I should have made it an oval spiral to compensate for the foreshortening. (I should study up on that for this winter)

I'm not sure how many photos I used for this one, but if you count all the Matt's, then that's the number. Let's just say a lot and save ourselves the trouble.
