Sliced Smoke

Exciting news! I was checking out my recent activity on flickr and noticed some people visiting my flickr page from a website I hadn't seen before. It turns out that Andrew Landgraf found my work and wrote two scripts that automate some of the processes that I've been using. One that does time stacks, and another that does time slices. I was super excited to find the time slice script, because up until now I've been doing them manually, and it takes forever.

I haven't tried the time stacking script yet, but I've been trying out the time slicing script on some of my timelapses from 2014.

Sometimes the results have one slice that's much bigger than the rest, and I'm not sure why, but this time I thought it made for a neat effect, and it's inspired me to try some different things with time slicing.

I haven't heard from Andrew yet, but I'm hoping we can talk about the scripts a little, and maybe we can figure out this little glitch.

!!EDIT: check out Andrews comments about this, it is not a glitch, it's just how the script works, and choosing the right number of images fixes the problem.!!

This was made from 696 photos, sliced horizontally, using the north orientation.

Here's a post Andrew wrote about the scripts. andland.github.io/blog/2014/12/24/time-stack-time-slice-r/ and here is where you can get the script for free! gist.github.com/andland/efe66240184328f07429

Andrew, you are awesome!
