Cusco is the gateway to the Inca Trail and Machu Pichu, but it's also an interesting place in its own right. This is where the former Incan Empire had its capitol. Interestingly enough, nobody knows for sure what the real name of the Incan Empire is - "Inca" is the name of the last emperor, not the kingdom itself.
