As a visionary urban village, Canary District has attracted projects such as the ultra-high-speed broadband internet connection provided by Beanfield Metroconnect. Canary District is the first place to have open-access to such technology in Canada. This kind of internet connection is unlimited and up to four times faster than typical home networks, starting from 100 megabits per second up to 1 gigabit per second with the same upload and download speed.
Canary District is also an example of sustainability. It's original Pan/Parapan Am Games design focused on health and wellness. Since then, this design philosophy has been strictly followed to this day. In order to exceed the guidelines and requirements for LEED-NC® Gold green building certification, green roofs are going to be part of the Canary District design. By combining it with integrated live-work buildings, pedestrian walkways and links to natural green areas, the place evokes a sense of balance and green living.
