This was Skippy's-Bucktown
To a ten year-old in the early fifties this (then) candy store on Leavitt Street was Xanadu. It was Skippy's and they had what seemed to me the largest selection of comic books in the world. When you walked in, the entire right-side of the store was a wall of the latest Archie, Donald Duck, Baby Huey and Classic comics. Also, every fall there would be Duncan and Cheerio yoyo contests on the sidewalk in front of the store. Skippy was an acerbic gentleman who seemed to barely tolerate us kids.
