butterfly weed, Asclepias tuberosa, flowering heads
We dug up some wild Asclepias tuberosa plants a couple of decades ago, and placed them in our flower garden. I'm glad we did. They give us lots of orange. They also attract bees and butterflies, although there aren't any in this photo. The plants are members of the milkweed family.
