Carcassonne - Basilique Saint-Nazaire

Carcassonne revisited. So just a few details from the Basilica of Saint-Nazaire, that I had not noticed before (there are still many to find ..). Outside the basilica are "addons", that seem much younger than the church itself. I know, that Viollet-le-Duc modified a lot outside, when he renovated the church in the 19th century, but did he have this kind of humor? I doubt that.

A gargoyle on the front of the tower. It seems to have just an ornamental function. It does not have a spout, and it seems to be very smooth - and young.
