Dark-eyed Junco Territoriality Taking Over; Trying to Get That Guy in the Mirror
Junco hyemalis,
Sweet Springs Nature Preserve,
San Luis Obispo Co., California
After I had gone around the preserve and was coming back to my car, I noticed this junco at the mirror of my car, then alternately at the windshield wiper. He came back to the mirror and after glaring (my subjective, I know) at the male in the mirror, made a couple attacks. Oh, those hormones!
It's fun to know that the same thing happened with a junco there last March and I'm wondering if it's the same bird. Thanks to Connie, my wife, that photo was titled, "He's Handsome, But I Still Don't Like Him."
