As has been the case for several years straight now during my visits to the Lowcountry in March and April, a persistent cold front dropped into the area and brought with it clear skies, cooler temperatures and persistent winds. While I might have been frustrated with this in the past, I've learned to better adjust to weather patterns and opportunities. One of the most intriguing things about these cooler, clearer weather patterns is the intensity of the orange/blue gradient that occurs in the mornings and evenings. Knowing that, I used a medium-telephoto lens to isolate the good color and found a tight composition with a shimmering reflection (I'm always looking for reflections it seems!).

The Edwin S. Taylor Folly Beach Fishing Pier is the second longest pier on the east coast at 1,045 feet long. It stands about twenty-three feet above the Atlantic Ocean and has become somewhat of a Lowcountry landmark anchoring the center of Folly with a public center of activity and recreational opportunity.
