I typically live by a code of keeping my photographs as simple as possible and totally gimmick free--just how I chose to roll. But, on this particular day, with my father along for the hike, I thought it would be neat to involve him in the creation of a photograph. So, I asked him to gather up a considerable handful of fallen leaves. Meanwhile, I installed a neutral density filter on my camera to extend the exposure times. When we were both ready, I had him drop the leaves into the giant pothole near center frame and when the stream current began to disperse them in a circular motion, I snapped a few long exposures: in the autumn mix! While not a perfect execution, I thought it was a great way to create a memory where we were both involved in finding and executing an image.
