There’s not too much to say about this one. The truth is the truth: I was late getting out to the beach! By the time I reached the gate to Botany Bay Plantation on Edisto Island in the lowcountry of South Carolina and began to fill in the registration paperwork, the skies were already doing their dance with pre-dawn light. I contained my crazy while I walked past a number of camera club members at the plantation that morning who were lined up along the causeway shooting the calm, reflecting marshes. Then I just let it go, sprinted down the beach, set up on the first thing that I thought had an ounce of possibility, and began engaging the shutter while adjusting filters, tripod, and my own position. I think more than one camera club member on the beach that morning gave me the crazy eye as I ran by, jumping over downed trees, and creating a splash in the high-tide conditions along the beach somewhat shattering the otherwise peaceful morning conditions :-) By the time I reached the classic trees, I realized that there were a few folks shooting from back on the dry shore, so I tried to respect their compositions (although it tugged at me) and decided to find something different than I’ve done before. It turned into a fantastic morning and we all found a slice of the beach to practice our photography addictions! I even had an opportunity to meet Flickr contact, Mark Smith and his wife, by chance for the first time!
