Timeless Adventures (Pinnacles National Park)
A setting looking to the northeast while taking in views across eroded volcanic formations and hillsides present while walking the Prewett Point Trail in Pinnacles National Park. Given the height I was located and the open area below leading to the more distant hillsides and mountains, I decided to angle my Nikon SLR, camera slightly downward and create a sweeping view looking across this national park landscape. The other thing I had to keep in mind while composing this image was to meter it properly to capture an exposure of both the area that filled most of the lower portion of the image, caught in shadows, with that of the more distant hillsides and mountains caught in the glow of late afternoon sunlight. Composing the image was a matter of lining up the ridgeline coming off the High Peaks and the Balconies volcanic formation, in such a way that it kind of balanced with the canyon in the middle image left.
I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 6 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.
