Living a Tradition of Solitude as I Walk in White Sands National Park
White hiking the Alkali Flat Trail with a view looking to the southeast across the white sands and dune formations present in this part of the national park. My thought on composing this image was to take advantage of the way the dune formation to my immediate front seemed to cut across the landscape. I found that added a layered look, that would lead one further into the image with the other more distant dunes. I brought the horizon a little higher into the image by angling, my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward. While I did feel that the blue skies with the thin clouds above were a complement to the whites in the sands, I also noted that it was kind of a negative space and wanted to minimize that taking up any more of the image.
