Tree Stretching High Up for the Taste of a New Day’s Sunlight (Bryce Canyon National Park)
While walking the Wall Street area along the Navajo Loop in Bryce Canyon National Park. The view is looking to the north and up at a few trees that have grown in the openings between the soaring walls of this slot canyon. My thought on composing the same age was to go wide angle with a view that included as much of the trees as I could with the blue skies above. I felt that including the tree trunk leading up to the crown would help give a sense of perspective with their height. The problem came though with what I perceived as a large dynamic range between the sunlit areas in the upper portion of the slot canyon and the more shadowed areas around me. I made adjustments to the image exposure compensation and later worked with Aurora HDR Pro and DxO PhotoLab 5 to process the image I wanted.
