1AM zero

Early morning freight departures from Adelaide on the main line to Melbourne provided a whole different range of photographic possibilities, but unfortunately were few and far between during the late 80s and early 90s. Towards the end of the broad gauge era a new Sunday only service 1AM0 was introduced departing around 0800hrs, strangely the only train I can recall having a '0' suffix. On Sunday 4 December 1994, V/Line locos C507/G536, with Australian National's 705 assisting through the Hills, are seen emerging from Shepherds Hill Road tunnel near Eden Hills with no.1AM0 for Melbourne.

I'm not 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure that when the new timetable started up post standardisation in May 1995, 1AM0 disappeared.

Flickrite aussie foamer was enjoying a cab ride this day.
